Whirlwind!

Friends, we have been riding a whirlwind in the last few weeks! We have been packing up and living with friends for the last 5.5 weeks in preparation for moving to Dallas, TX to attend grad school. On top of that, we have just photographed our first professional wedding! Thank you, Abby and Andy for choosing Saben Photography! It was a great experience, and we may post a few pictures here from it later on.

Two days after the wedding, we packed up our last few things in our Ford Explorer that we bought from a friend after our little Saturn L200 was totaled in an accident and drove about 15 hours through Sunday night so that we could move in to our apartment on Dallas Theological Seminary's campus. Since then, we have been unpacking, reorganizing, editing pictures, paying school bill stuff, studying Greek, and generally getting ready for our first semester to begin in about a month.

We are now setup for business in Dallas, people! So, let all your friends and family know that Saben Photography, affordable, yet professional and quality, is ready and prepared to photograph their families, weddings, graduations, bar/bat mitzvahs, babies, graduating seniors, and any other events and portraits that you can think of! We'll be giving our packages and pricing an overhaul, with a special emphasis on putting together a DTS Special Package just for DTS students, employees, and faculty!

When we're done with all that, we will be posting our pricing and packages here for your viewing (and hopefully, purchasing :P) pleasure!
Thank you for your continued support!

Movin' on Out!

Friends,
In probably just a little less than a month we will be moving to Dallas, TX to start at Dallas Theological Seminary in pursuit of a Master of Theology degree for each of us. Please, pray for us and think of anyone you know in the Dallas/Ft.Worth-area who might need pictures taken of them, whether for a wedding, couple pictures, Senior pictures, baby pictures, Bar Mitzvah or confirmation pictures or any other type of pictures and portraits!

Baked Oatmeal

We both like to cook quite a bit, as well as to photograph some of our creations. Last night I made some baked oatmeal, and Ben snapped away.

I used to make baked oatmeal quite a bit when I was a student, but for some reason I hadn't in ages. I've been wanting to get back to making this splendid dish, so at my husband's request I pulled out my baking ingredients and utensils and made him some to take on his camping trip this weekend.

This time I added a twist, or to be more specific I added some frozen cranberries. It was not a bad addition, but for future reference I would recommend cutting the cranberries into small chunks or pieces. The batter looks very pretty with red balls floating amid the flakes, but upon getting a taste of the cooked berry it can be a bit strong.

Exciting things ahead...and a little scary, too!

Well, friends, here we are. Sarah and I have purchased enough basic equipment to shoot real events, we've done our first real portrait shots (albeit freebies for our friends), have a brand spanking-new website, got our blog in order, ordered business cards, put together some prices and packages for events, and shot well over a combined 5,000 pictures in the last two months. We are ready to begin. All we need now is to get our first paying gig and the continued moral and emotional (and financial, certainly! :D) of our family and friends, both old and new and above all the Grace and Goodness of our Lord Jesus Christ.

If you would like the excitement, nay the pleasure, nay THE DISTINCT HONOR of being our first paying customers for any event, small or large, please, let us know. You could talk to us directly, call me (617) 595-8412, email us at sabenphoto@gmail.com, or leave a request on our Calendar page on our website: www.sabenphotography.net.

We can't wait to SHOOT YOU....wait. Let me try again. This is better: We can't wait to CAPTURE the rare beauty of your precious moments as a couple, or the endearing joy of your children, or exciting moments of your time of graduation!

Photo Session with Nathan and Emily

We recently photographed a fun couple in a park up on N. Lake Shore Drive. It's a great spot along the shore with the Waveland Clock Tower as a prominent landmark. One of the best parts of this photoshoot was seeing the love captured in still form. It is one thing to have a shot of a couple, but it is another to capture one of those "looks" that expresses the feelings of one's heart.
